Healthy Food Guide considers an Accredited Nutritionist (AN) is a tertiary qualified nutrition professional that has expertise in a range of nutrition areas such as community health and public health nutrition.
They don’t, however, have qualifications in individual dietary counselling, group therapy and medical nutrition therapy. People with very limited nutrition qualifications can call themselves nutritionists, but not Accredited Nutritionists. Accredited Practising Dietitians (APD) can choose to use both APD and/or AN.
