Q: "Most salad dressings in the supermarket are either fatty, salty, sugary or all three! Do you have any waistline-friendly recipes?"
Rosanna Jackson, Wodonga, VIC
A: Healthy salad dressings are easier to make than you think! You can create dozens of unique variations by combining fresh herbs, vinegars, healthy oils and sauces (such as reduced-salt soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce). Give this tangy asian dressing a try:
2 tablespoons mirin (Japanese rice wine)
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 long red chilli, seeded and finely diced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon brown sugar
Whisk together all ingredients in a small bowl and season with ground black pepper, to taste.
