Drunkorexia is a dangerous disorder that is sweeping through female university populations.

In a bid to be thin and trendy, young women are starving themselves during the day and bingeing on alcohol as they party the night away – it’s a case of alcohol abuse becoming disordered eating. Excessive alcohol intake on an empty stomach often leads to purging, a key characteristic of eating disorders. With the incidence of eating disorders and substance abuse increasing substantially, future research plans to find a link between the psychological and neurological aspects of both.
