Pomegranates are known to be a rich source of antioxidants, so it’s not surprising researchers are investigating the full potential of this fruit.

A team of US and Indian researchers recently investigated the effect of a pomegranate extract on a rheumatoid type of arthritis in animals. They found a diet rich in pomegranate delayed the onset and reduced the incidence of arthritis among the animals, and also reduced the severity of the symptoms. Although the results are promising, research trials on humans have yet to be conducted.
