Carbon footprint labelling

Supermarket chain Tesco is trialling carbon footprint labelling in its UK stores.

Potatoes, orange juice, washing-up liquid and light bulbs come with labels showing how many grams of carbon (or equivalent greenhouse gases) were emitted making the product as well as how many grams of carbon are likely to be emitted using and disposing of any waste. Tesco hopes the informative labelling will allow concerned consumers to make greener choices.
