Eat breakfast: Think better, feel better
32 healthy people in Leeds participated in a study to evaluate the effect eating breakfast had on their mood and performance.
Memory, attention and reaction time were assessed before breakfast, shortly after breakfast and later in the morning. When breakfast was not eaten at all, people became hungry and their mood and cognitive performance both deteriorated over time. These results support research showing that consumption of a carbohydrate-rich food is associated with better verbal, short-term, spatial and long-term memory performance.
