Beer extract may help prevent prostate cancer
Researchers at Oregon State University have found that flavonoid xanthohumol, found in hops, reduced the number of prostate cancer cells in their laboratory tests.
The main dietary source of xanthohumol is beer, however the researchers do not advise drinking beer for the health of your prostate.
Unfortunately the amount that could be consumed from beer is not expected to be anywhere near enough to have any positive effect. If further research on xanthohumol supports their findings, the likely long-term outcome is a supplement – not quite as enticing!
