Women keen on online health advice
Women are much more likely than men to search online for health information, according to a US study.
Researchers at Bryant University studied 1,461 women and 1,317 men over four years.
They found the women were more likely to be health seekers, although men were more likely to look online for sensitive health information they felt uncomfortable discussing with their doctors or partners.
The researchers say this reflects the different genders’ offline behaviour; women are more likely to seek medical help when sick and visit the doctor more often.
