A higher alcohol intake has been linked to endometrial cancer in post-menopausal women.

In a study funded by the National Cancer Institute in the US, the impact of alcohol intake on endometrial cancer risk was examined among 41,574 post-menopausal women.

The researchers found women consuming two or more alcoholic drinks a day doubled their risk of developing endometrial cancer compared to non-drinkers.

There was no increase in risk associated with less than one drink per day, or with one to less than two drinks per day.
