Cocoa may reduce blood pressure
A recent analysis of trials that assessed the effects of blood pressure on adults showed consumption of foods rich in cocoa were likely to reduce blood pressure.
If you don’t eat chocolate, it’s probably not a good idea to start; with all that fat and sugar it is very high in energy (kilojoules).
But if you do eat chocolate, and you’re not about to give it away, it’s a good reason to convert to good quality dark chocolate.
The trials were short-term and used small samples, so long-term outcomes cannot be assumed.
If the cocoa comes from chocolate, the long-term effects of excess energy (kilojoules) intake could quickly outweigh the benefits!
