High-salt diet linked to stomach ulcers
The bacteria that causes stomach ulcers may be encouraged to grow by a high-salt diet.
This bacteria is called Helicobacter pylori.
Hanan Gancz, from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Maryland, presented his findings to the 107th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology in Toronto in May.
While sodium from salt is essential in our diets, we have long been encouraged to reduce intakes due to its association with high blood pressure.
