Air points for being slim?
American Airlines, in the face of the obesity epidemic, are charging passengers for an extra seat if they are too fat and their bulk spills over into the next seat.
Here in New Zealand, though Air New Zealand has added an extra 4kg per passenger to its aircraft weight calculations (the average weight is now 89kg), there are no plans to charge overweight passengers.
However, chief executive Rob Fife was recently reported saying there may come a time when the airline will offer trim people discounted tickets as a reward for keeping weight off the aircraft.
