Eat chilli pepper for insulin control?
Regularly eating meals containing chilli pepper may be beneficial to diabetics and overweight people.
In a study with 36 people, researchers at the University of Tasmania found that regular chilli consumption caused blood glucose levels to increase less than in a non-chilli-based diet.
Although a small sample, they also found that this effect improved as body mass index (BMI) increased, and the effect is greater if chilli is eaten regularly.
However, before you go overboard on the chilli it should also be noted that an increased risk of stomach cancers has been associated with the high intakes of hot chillies found in countries like India and Mexico.
