A 'prescription' of daily kiwifruit could help keep cancer at bay by helping to repair DNA damage.

This is according to a pilot study recently conducted at AUT University in Auckland, led by Dr Elaine Rush.

The trial found that in subjects who ate kiwifruit – the equivalent of one kiwifruit for every 30kg of body weight – there was “evidence that consumption of kiwifruit over three weeks had beneficial effects on cellular protection against DNA damage."

In New Zealand the average weekly household spend on food is $143.00. Meals away from home and ready-to-eat meals make up the largest portion of the food spend.
