Protein doesn't turn into fat?

Seeing people lose weight on a high-protein diet would make this statement appear to be true. Is it?

"I can eat as much protein as I like because it doesn’t turn into fat."

True or false?

False.

If overall you consume energy in excess of your needs – whether it is from carbohydrate, fat or protein – that excess will be stored as fat.

Your body has no other way to deal with excess energy.
