Eating three portions of oily fish a week could offer significant protection against sunburn.

Researchers from Manchester University in the UK gave fish oil to 42 healthy people in the form of supplements equivalent to three portions of fish a week. After three months, the volunteers improved their resistance to harmful ultra-violet rays by 33%. The researchers said the results were not a reason to stop using sun creams, but that fish oil could be an additional measure to protect skin in the future.
