Professor Jennie Brand-Miller
PhD, FAIFST
Professor of Human Nutrition, University of Sydney. Professor Brand-Miller holds a Personal Chair in Human Nutrition at the University of Sydney. Her research interests focus on all aspects of carbohydrates, including diet, diabetes and insulin resistance. Known internationally as the major exponent of the Glycaemic Index, Professor Brand-Miller has published 16 books and more than 200 journal articles.
Dr Andrew S. Day
MB, ChB, MD, FRACP
Dr Day is head of the Department of Paediatric Gastroenterology at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, and senior lecturer in the School of Women’s and Children’s Health, University of NSW, Sydney. Originally trained in New Zealand, Dr Day later undertook specialist training in the Department of Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the world-renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.
Dr Helen O’Connor
BSc, Dip ND, PhD, APD
Dr O’Connor has 20 years experience as a dietitian, working as a clinical dietitian at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, providing nutritional support to patients in the renal, intensive care and oncology units, and then in the hospital’s metabolism and obesity service. Dr O’Connor has extensive experience as a sports dietitian, currently consulting to the Bulldogs NRL team and the NSW Institute of Sport.
Glenn Cardwell
BSc, Grad Dip Diet, Grad Dip App Sc, APD
Glenn Cardwell is an accredited practising dietitian with 26 years’ experience in public health and sports nutrition, including 10 years with the National Heart Foundation. His nutrition consultancy company advises the public, the food industry and health professionals. He is a lecturer at Edith Cowan University in Perth and has written three books on nutrition.
Dr Gary Deed
MBBS, Dip Herb Medicine, FACNEM
Dr Deed has 20 years experience as a medical practitioner, most recently at Yourhealth in Carina, Queensland.
He is also the president of Diabetes Australia, QLD, national president of Diabetes Australia, patron of MINDD Foundation and RMIT senior adjunct lecturer in nutritional medicine. His special interest areas include autism, chronic fatigue syndrome and nutrition in cancer management.
